Meet Your Attorney

Tonya Bordeaux, Esq.

Former Navy spouse. Mother of five boys. Estate planning attorney.

The Moment Everything Changed

In law school, I wrote an article about Holocaust survivors seeking justice in American courts. The research took me deep into questions of identity, belonging, and what we leave behind for those who come after us.

That's when it hit me: legacy isn't just about assets and documents. It's about the profound impact our decisions have on generations that follow. Every family deserves to shape that legacy intentionally — not leave it to chance or the courts.

13 Years of Military Life

Before law school, I spent 13 years as a Navy spouse, raising three sons while navigating the beautiful chaos of military life. We moved. We deployed. We lived overseas — I served as Special Events Coordinator for the U.S. Ambassador in Bahrain.

Through it all, I learned what military families and veterans actually need: plans that move with you, solutions that don't require business-hours appointments, and professionals who understand that your life doesn't pause for paperwork.

The Path to Law

I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, then completed a two-year Biblical Studies program in Tulsa. In 2018, with three kids at home, I decided to pursue a long-held dream of practicing law.

I started with a paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego, graduated with honors, then entered California Western School of Law in 2020. While in law school, I was published in the CWSL International Law Journal, made the Dean's Honor Roll, and earned a Distinguished Advocate award. I also completed a summer program abroad in International Arbitration and Mediation at Queen Mary University of London.

Why Estate Planning?

After law school, I practiced family law and saw something that bothered me: families fighting over assets, confused about their loved one's wishes, spending money on disputes that proper planning could have prevented.

I realized I could help families avoid that pain. Estate planning isn't about death — it's about giving your family clarity and protection while you're still here to provide it.

Why I Built This Practice

Traditional estate planning requires multiple office visits during business hours. That doesn't work for military families. It doesn't work for most families.

I built Bordeaux Legacy Law to be different. You can start your estate plan at 11pm after the kids are asleep. You can work on it during naptime or between meetings. And you still get real attorney oversight — because DIY forms aren't enough when your family's protection is at stake.

On a Personal Note

My amazing husband and I share five uniquely awesome sons (three of mine, two of his — yes, we understand blended families). When I'm not practicing law, you'll find me playing acoustic guitar, cheering at football games, or trying to keep up with teenagers who eat everything in the house.

Faith and family drive everything I do. I'd be honored to help you protect yours.
